CHAPTER 2

[002]Always winter.[019]

§همیشه زمستان§

Then the spring comes.[023] All over the country there are spring flowers and little birds in the green trees.[033]But in the Selfish Giant’s garden it stays winter.[040]

§بلاخره بهار آمد . همه جا پر شد از گل های بهاری و پرندگان کوچک روی شاخه درختان. ولی در باغ غول خودخواه همچنان زمستان بود.§

The birds don’t want to sing in it, because there are no children.[048] The trees there stay dark.[052] One beautiful flower puts its head up out of the ground.[060] But it sees the notice, and is very sorry for the children. [068]So it goes back under the ground and sleeps again.[075]

§چون بچه ای آنجا نبود پرنده ها نمیخواستند آنجا بخوانند . درختها تاریک مانده بودند. یک گل زیبا سر از خاک بیرون آورده بود. ولی برای بچه ها متاسف بود. بنابراین دوباره به زیر زمین برگشت و خوابید.§

Nobody is happy about this only the Snow and the Frost.[084]

‘Spring doesn’t come to this garden!’ they cry.[090]

So we can live here all year! Ha! Ha!’ .[097]

The Snow puts her cold, white coat on the ground, and the Frost puts silver on the dark trees.[111]

They tell the North Wind,[115]

‘You must stay with us!’[119]

§هیچ کس دررابطه با این برف و سرما خوشحال نبود. “سرما فریاد زد” بهار به این باغ نمی آید. بنابراین ما میتوانیم تمام سال را اینجا بمانیم! ها ها ها. سرما کت سفید خود را روی زمین پهن کرد، و یخبندان درخت ها را نقره ای کرد. آنها به باد شمال گفتند، تو باید با ما بمانی!§

So he comes in his big, brown coat. He makes lots of noise up and down the garden, and he moves things here and there all day.[138]

‘This is wonderful!’ he cries.[144]

‘Let’s ask the Hail here, too![150]

§بنابراین باد شمال با کت قهوه ای آمد. سروصدای زیادی ایجاد کرد و در باغ بالا و پائین رفت، و همه چیز را جابجا کرد. “باد شمال فریاد زد” این فوق العاده است. بگذار اینجا از تگرگ هم بپرسم!§

So the Hail comes. Every day he sits on the roof of the Giant’s big, old house. [163]He never stops hitting it noisily, hour after hour. [172]His suit is the color of smoke.[176] And cold smoke comes from his mouth when he opens it.[185]

§بنابراین تگرگ هم آمد. هر روز روی سقف قدیمی خانه غول بزرگ مینشست. هیچ وقت صدای برخورد خود را برای ساعتهای طولانی متوقف نمیکرد. لباسش به رنگ دود بود و هروقت دهانش را باز میکرد دود سردی از دهانش بیرون می آمد.§

The Selfish Giant sits at his window. [190]He looks out at his cold, white garden.[196]

‘I don’t understand,’ he says.[201]

‘The spring’s very late this year. When is it coming? And when is this winter finishing?‘

§غول خودخواه کنار پنجره نشسته بود. و به باغ سفید و سرد خود نگاه میکرد. “غول گفت” من نمیفهمم. امسال بهار خیلی دیرآمد. بهار کی خواهخد آمد؟ و زمستان کی تمام خواهد شد؟§
